About the author

Barbara Bokus – humanities professor with a postdoctoral degree, psychologist, psycholinguist, she conducts research on human communicative competence. She works at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Psychology, where she has headed the Psycholinguistics Lab (1993–2013) and the Department of Cognitive Psychology (2002–2019). Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Committee of Psychology. Co-originator of the Inter-Faculty Individual Studies in the Humanities (MISH) at the University of Warsaw, deputy director of Collegium MISH UW in 1994–2008. Co-originator of the »Artes Liberales« Academy (AAL) program. Head of the AAL Inter-University Program of Interdisciplinary PhD Studies. Member of the International Pragmatics Association (IPrA) Consultation Board.
